In 2017, one would hope that the time of the starving writer has passed. We’ve finally entered a new dawn of instant creation. With the world quite literally at your fingertips, information travels faster than the human eye. And thankfully, so does the work.

One question that I constantly get asked is – “How do you survive as a freelance writer?” The answer often is, I don’t.

Even with a surge in demand for freelance writers, keeping a decent stream of clients in a small city can often times prove difficult. You’ll have your periods with a steady of work and then you’ll have a dry spell. Unfortunately for most, including myself, working through the road bumps of this life is risky business. So to supplement my craft, I also daylight as a salaried web content creator.

There are times when I miss the freedoms of creating my own hours, pay rates and workload but the harsh reality is – it’s tough out here.
